Here's where things get intriguing: Despite a strong overall career, his 2025 season was marred by injury, limiting his playing time. And in 2024, he struggled with a 6.33 ERA, a far cry from his impressive 1.52 ERA in 2023.
Mayza's pitching arsenal includes a powerful sinker, typically thrown at 93-94 mph, and a slider. His sinker is his go-to pitch, used more than two-thirds of the time. This combination has proven effective against left-handed batters, who've had a tough time facing him.
