It's flu season, and the race to protect the community is on! Jersey is taking a proactive approach to ensure its residents are shielded from the flu and COVID-19. But here's the catch: not everyone has been able to get their jabs yet.
A series of drop-in clinics are now open across the island, offering a convenient solution for those who haven't received their flu or COVID-19 booster shots. This initiative aims to reach those who may have faced challenges in accessing their GP or local pharmacy.
The clinics will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. GMT, starting at St Clement Parish Hall and then moving to different locations each day. Islanders can conveniently pop into any clinic, regardless of their home parish.
While almost 6,000 people have already received their COVID-19 booster this winter, health officials want to ensure that everyone who needs it gets vaccinated. This is especially important for those aged 75 and above, care home residents, and individuals with specific health conditions.
Flu vaccines are recommended for a broad range of individuals, including adults over 65, pregnant women, carers, and those with clinical risks. COVID-19 boosters are also crucial for the elderly, care home residents, and people with suppressed immune systems.
And this is the part most people miss: these clinics offer a simple, accessible way to protect yourself and your community. So, will you be dropping in to get your jab? It might just be the most important thing you do this week!
